RE: HTT Wardrobe Improvement

Nice change to add some shelves to that huge wardrobe the 23B has.

RE: Bigfoot Industries in Trouble??

It doesn't matter if the manuf. is saved, the dealers have lost all avenues of floor financing, kinda hard to stock the lot when no bank will back you on the floor equity needed to do so. The manuf. will need to provide floor financing if they want to move any product from their lots.

RE: Wallboard in Everest

Well, most wood working shops have 10-15 tones of wood putty/spackle to fill holes. The wallboard in our Cruiser is tan with cream colors, I simply bought some cream colored wood putty/spackle. Worked good to fill the couple the factory missed and it was a small investment. On another note it is funny you have a Everest, we walked into one this fall at the local fair and it had the new curved wall leading to the upstairs shower. It was shot with the so many staples it was obvious someone was just being a jerk or was really, reall numb. Most of them weren't covered well with putty, either.

RE: I do not know if i can go camping after my wife passed away

I haven't read the last 5 pages but as someone who loves his wife dearly and been together since we were in grade school I can not imagine how I could carry on. My prayers are with you and your family, God bless.

RE: artic fox /northwood manuf.

They closed their east coast production awhile ago now. Any dealer network they have has likely moved onto other products. I know the dealership I bought from use to be a Northwood dealer, they haven't had a new trailer from Northwood since at least last year sometime. I would think that any former Northwood dealer would be qualified to do warranty work and Northwood should be ok with prior approval to do the work.

RE: Starcraft closing it's plant - combining plant with Jayco

It shouldn't change any of the dealer network or warranty coverage. Since Jayco is known for their excellent warranty coverage nothing should change for your current dealer getting claims paid.

RE: Starcraft closing it's plant - combining plant with Jayco

The Starcraft name will continue under Jayco direction and manufacturing. In the end I still feel it is better to still have "Starcraft" rather then no Starcraft. Also, while it is bad news for Topeka it is good news for Middlebury. Jayco has stated in some of the articles that the extra production should be enough to offset their slower sales.

RE: supercenter pricing

COMPUTER_PALL It's not a matter of willing. There is no way to get the trailer delivered to the dealer without paying it. The dealer has 2 options...pay the delivery company or pay their own drivers, use their own trucks, and pay their own fuel. Either way, the customer ends up paying for it. Let's face it...do you think the dealer is just going to give away $1200 on each sale? Prep charges are part of a dealers profit margin. Again, you are going to pay for it whether it's put in writing or not! He's right, and we don't always see eye to eye! They don't "give" you delivery charges, the manuf. charges them to deliver and in New England this past summer the price spiked as mentioned based on $4 gas. You can't waive taxes, either. I wouldn't pay the PDI fee, that CAN be waived at the dealers discretion. The Freedom campers are base camper's, you can use RVDirect.com and RVWHolesalers.com to see what other "chain" stores are charging! You might want to try the local dealers, too. With sales way off many are starting to do some soul searching and reducing prices.

RE: 2 minor leaks allready on an 06 jayco

Mike Even though they are the second owners, wll Jayco cover repairs since the original owner has a 12 year warrantee on the roof? Might be worth a try to contact Jayco since it is an 06 model. We were thinking the same thing, I am going to suggest that they contact Jayco with a cold call and ask to talk to a CSR manager. Worse case they will ask for some pictures and say no. Best case perhaps they will repair or partially pay for repair. The (12) year warranty is on the membrane and not the installation.

RE: Where's the new Coleman Camper website?

Gez, they didn't just drop the ball they really flunked management 101 if they can't deliver a product on a promised date. Com'on - get the website posted.

RE: Fireplace Installation

Dimplex sells a trim kit that cover's any gaps. You can use wood blocks to "shim" it into place then use a single screw into the sheet metal to hold it tight. Enjoy!

RE: Wood truss & flr joists v. aluminum - (Sundance or Cruiser)

No question for me. Aluminum is th way to go. Lighter, stronger, welded joints. And if wood frame or trusses are not really well dried before assembled, it may dry and loosen up. Especially when hauled and bounced over many roads. And any frame flex is likely to affect wood more than welded aluminum construction. . Oops, Cruiser doesn't weld their aluminum frame or trusses. To save money, they screw them together with short sheet metal screws, most of which you will find are stripped out. That causes the whole frame to flex and causes problems like joints and seams getting cracks and not staying sealed. Crossroads Cruisers quality has taken a real nose dive recently. Try walking on the roof of one and you will see what I mean. I wouldn't buy another Cruiser, regardless of all the BS on this forum about how 'perfect' they are. I don't share your observation or issues, but you are certianly entitled to your opinion. I'm 6'4 240lbs and the roof seems fine to me, I am up there all the time becuase we camp in area rich in pine trees with lots of pine needles. It feels just as sturdy as my prior Sunnybrook and much better than a previous Jayco. Wood or alum. they are both fine campers from my shopping. I don't think you would be unhappy with either.

RE: Wood truss & flr joists v. aluminum - (Sundance or Cruiser)

I picked between the Cruiser and Sundance. I felt each had it's good and bad points in features and construction. I felt that the screwed/glued/angle bracket construction of the Cruiser and 1 piece roof rafter was the better choice for me. After my house "dried" out after building it a few years ago I started getting small creaks and moans in the sub floor. This was becuase the lumber contracted as it dried. I feared the same thing in the trailer, if you have seen the lumber used in campers it is stored outside, the water content when used can be a lot higher then it's kiln-dried finish numbers state. Wood flooring dries, becomes smaller in a nominal manner and can make noise under heavy use. Alum. is more stable from a dim. standpoint and does not dry or change in size. I think both campers are nice and I could have gone with either. However, the Cruiser has the longer bumper to bumper AND structure warranty of the two. I feel better with a all alum. cage, just personal preference.

RE: 2 minor leaks allready on an 06 jayco

Our friends have the "textured" roofing material (TPO) and are the 2nd owners. I was helping them clean the roof columbus day weekend and was horrified what I got to the top of the ladder and nealy put my hand through the roof and heard crunchin' wood underneath. I feel they have the same issue, water has been wicked from the edge as all roof sealant looks to be in good shape and there are no obvious defects. This unit is a 2006.

RE: RV Price Busters

They don't typically turn away the work. They will, however, remind you that their customer's will come first when service work is needed. There are a few dealers out there that WON'T do work on your camper that is warranty work unless you pay them first. If you can find a good deal online then go with it. Just remember a "good deal" to one person can mean something very different to another person. Some will say the best deal is the cheapest purchase price, others (like me) will tell you the best deal isn't aways the cheapest price.

I've heard generally good things about Komfort trailers. I'm glad they are doing well.
